Niykee is a songwriter who, despite her recent whirlwind career has maintained her routine. Some of her personal highlights included her being picked by Snoop dogg to become his private assistant at the YouTube Brandcast event in May 2013. The songwriting process is an inspiration to hopeful producers. Niykee listens constantly to beats and discovers many which spark thoughts. After just five minutes when I'm able to determine whether a beat is worthy of my time. After that, I get the idea of a whole song inside my head and start writing. If I am sitting at my front porch, playing guitar, my lyrics simply flow and are usually written in fewer than thirty minutes. Niykee says that as she matures as a singer-songwriter and musician, her memories of her childhood serve as an source of inspiration. Even when I'm not writing literally about things that have been a part of my life, all the trauma of my childhood and the loss of my sister end being incorporated into my music she says. This shapes my music and provides it with a deeper meaning, which I find very important. I would like to be able to listen to my songs in 20 years and still feel proud about the things I've written.
